Adjunct Therapies

Cold Laser

Cold laser therapy offers a non-intrusive option to acupuncture and surgery. It also provides a non-addicting treatment that eliminates the complications of long-term drug treatment programs. The goal of laser therapy is to deliver light energy units from infrared laser radiation, called photons, to damaged cells.
It is the consensus of experts is that photons absorbed by the cells through laser therapy stimulate the mitochondria to accelerate production of ATP. This biochemical increase in cell energy is used to transform live cells from a state of illness to a stable, healthy state.
Cold laser is widely use for treatment of:

  • Acute and chronic pain
  • Ligament sprains and tears
  • Contusions
  • Muscle strain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Runner’s knee
  • Back pain
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place. cuppingCupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the meridians of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every part of the body and through every organ and tissue. There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the whole length of the body. Cupping may be the best way of opening those meridians. Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins.

Moxa

Moxa is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy using moxa, or mugwort herb. A cone-shaped amount of moxa is placed on top of an acupuncture point and burned on the skin. Direct moxibustion is a traditional technique considered to be very therapeutic. Moxibution is used to warm regions and acupuncture points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and qi. It is believed by some, that mugwort acts as an emmenagogue, meaning that it stimulates blood-flow in the pelvic area and uterus. It is claimed that moxibustion militates against cold and dampness in the body and can serve to turn breech babies.

Far Infrared

Far Infrared makes up 80 per cent of the energy reaching earth from the sun. Unlike Ultraviolet radiation, it has only beneficial effects on our skin and tissue. The wavelength of FIR is longer than visible light, and has a soothing yet energizing effect on our body.See our page on cosmetic facial rejuvenation.

Ion Foot Detox

The Ion Detox Foot Bath is an advanced procedure that removes toxins from our bodies safely and effectively. The process creates positive and negative ions in a warm foot bath solution of water and sea salt. Through osmosis, toxins are drawn from the body into the flowing foot bath. Refreshing and stimulating, yet relaxing.

Ear Candling

This is a safe and simple method to remove excess wax and toxic debris from the inside of the ears.
A very relaxing and soothing process, the technique actually extends back through Native American, European, and ancient Egyptian healers. A shaped cone is gently positioned in the outer ear. As a special candle is burned, the warmth and draft extract the toxins into the cone. Improvements have been noted in hearing, taste, and smell, as well as general overall well-being.
